Tucked away in the heart of Cley next the Sea, this former fisherman’s cottage offers a peaceful and atmospheric stay. One of the most picturesque villages on the North Norfolk coast, this is a dream destination for walkers and birdwatchers with superb reserves and a bounty of walks at your doorstep. Sleeping two guests and welcoming one beloved pup, it’s ideal for couples and solo travellers keen to embrace the wonders of the region.

Accessed via a pathway from the High Street, this brick-and-flint cottage oozes romantic charm with beamed ceilings, stone floors and original fireplaces. It’s been lovingly renovated with superb attention to detail and lots of creature comforts. Downstairs, an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner forms the heart of the home. Rustle up home-cooked treats in the modern, fitted kitchen, then settle around the breakfast bar or dine alfresco in the pretty courtyard garden. This is a delightful spot for a sundowner in the salty sea air before adjourning to the sofa to catch up with your favourite TV series or curl up with a book before bed. As night falls, head up the cottage-style stairs to find a warm and cosy king-size bedroom, and start each day with a rejuvenating soak in the ground-floor shower room.

Cley next the Sea is a magical base for exploring the region, with its famous windmill, galleries, independent boutiques, selection of eateries and expansive shingle beach. Walkers can pick up the Norfolk Coast Path and Peddars Way in either direction from the town. Keen birdwatchers will be drawn to Cley Marshes to observe rare wading birds and will find more nature at RSPB Titchwell (20 miles) and Blakeney Point (1.5 miles), home to a grey seal colony. It’s also perfect for exploring the seaside towns of Sheringham (8 miles) and Wells-next-the-Sea (9.5 miles).

We had a fantastic stay at Catlin Cottage and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The property is beautifully presented, exceptionally well equipped, and has clearly been finished to a very high standard. Everything we needed was provided, making it feel like a true home away from home. The location is excellent peaceful and relaxing, yet convenieRead morently close to local restaurants and an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. There are plenty of wonderful walks nearby, and we particularly loved having an excellent deli and smokehouse within easy reach, making it simple to stock up on high-quality local produce and treats during our stay. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and would highly recommend Catlin Cottage to anyone visiting the area. We certainly hope to return in the future. Hide

I am 60 this year and have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years - this was the best, excellent cleanliness and very well equipped ( even a spirit measure for a large G & T). Highly recommended.

A very nice cottage in a good location in wonderful Cley. I echo the description of another guest: The stairs are not for the faint-hearted. They require concentration especially when carrying something.

The cottage provided a truly relaxed environment from which we could walk to the nature reserve and to the next village via the coastal path. The situation to local shops and excellent pubs was perfect. Even though we went in February there was still plenty to see and do. Cley is a beautiful village in a lovely area of Norfolk that we know well. Catlin Cottage is really tastefully refurbished, warm and spotlessly clean.Would happily go back. The parking in the road is limited at busy times but we used the free village hall carpark and it was fine. Best welcome pack we have had for a long time!!

Spent a lovely week at 1 Catlin Cottages. We both loved it. The cottage was thoughtfully equipped. A lot of reviews mention the tight stairs and its true they may be challenging if you aren't nimble but it wasn't a problem for us - you just need to be careful. The little outside area was a sun trap. Its proximity to local walks and the village pubsRead more was excellent. Hide

Caitlin cottage was gorgeous, it was cosy and quiet. The cottage had everything we needed and a lovely comfy bed. The location is wonderful - the village itself is beautiful and has options for eating out or buying local produce but it's also a great place to explore North Norfolk from. There are lots of dog friendly places too!

What a gorgeous cottage and lovely holiday! The cottage is very thoughtfully kitted out and you can see it has been renovated at whatever point to a really high standard. It was like a home from home. And, location was perfect too. The Harbser is the best place to eat in Cley - highly recommend. A truly lovely holiday.

Lovely little cottage tucked away off the high street, consequently, very quiet. Also very dark at night, thanks for providing a torch. Much appreciated when taking the dog out last thing. Nicely decorated and almost everything you need for your home from home. We had a lovely week visiting old haunts and doing lots of walking.

Second visit to this property and just as lovely as the first time. Very central location in Cley with both the Hanser and George pub a stones throw away. Would recommend. Stairs a little steep for those who have mobility issues, but otherwise lovely.

Gorgeous cottage in a wonderful location. So relaxing. Friendly neighbours and Cley is probably one of the most unspoilt coastal locations in Norfolk. Harmser pub/restaurant just 2 doors away is amazing.
