This picture-postcard period cottage is in the delightful coastal village of Salthouse, on Norfolk’s north coast. The property sleeps four guests, making it ideal for both small families and couples. Enjoy walks directly from your front door across the wildlife-rich saltmarsh or along the secluded, shingle beach. Nearby days out include the seaside resort of Cromer (9.5 miles) and the vibrant market town of Holt (4 miles).

The former fisherman’s cottage is a traditional brick and flint property and is reached via a cute garden path. Inside, the characterful lounge offers a warm welcome, with a cosy wood burner set in the original fireplace. Relax here, after a long walk, to read a book or watch the TV/DVD. The farmhouse-style kitchen/diner is a sociable spot for sharing mealtimes as a group, with everything needed for a self-catering holiday and a large, wooden table to seat everyone. Completing the ground floor is a contemporary bathroom and a separate shower room. The two coastal-themed bedrooms are upstairs. The cottage benefits from two enclosed gardens – one at the front and one to the rear – so you can follow the sun throughout the day. The sunny patio area to the rear has a table and chairs for dining alfresco.

Salthouse is a charming coastal village with several places to eat, including a friendly pub and a popular crab shack. The village backs onto a saltmarsh, which is home to many rare birds, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. You’ll find some beautiful footpaths to explore through Salthouse Heath, providing unrivalled views along the coast, as well as the opportunity to marvel at the fascinating Bronze Age burial ground. The shingle beach is 0.5 miles from the cottage, and you can take strolls along the shoreline to Kelling or Cley-next-the-Sea.

This is a perfectly positioned cottage on the outskirts of the village of Salthouse, looking out to the sea. There is a sweet front garden and we bought the garden chairs in from the back to sit and have breakfast each morning there. The garden in back is lovely and if you're there at the right time of year you'll have some plums and pears to eat. Read moreThe cottage itself is sparsely, but comfortably furnished. The kitchen is on the ground floor. There's an oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, which all work well. There are a very few essentials missing (cork screw, salt and pepper in the grinders, a dustpan and brusg). There's a properly working TV in the comfortable living room. Slightly eccentrically the two bathrooms are next to each other at the back of the ground floor. One is has an actual bath. The heating is electric and works well. There was plenty of hot water. The two bedrooms are upstairs, one double bed and one with twin beds. Overall this was a nice place to stay, if a little spartan. Hide

A super cottage in a beautiful location. It had everything we needed for a peaceful, get away holiday. Didn't want to go home!

The cottage is in poor and unmaintained condition and is not clean. Furniture grubby. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. We stayed in Cherub Cottage in 2007. It is a beautiful location, but very disappointing now.

CHERUB COTTAGE WAS SPACIOUS WITH A LOVELY BACK GARDEN. WE ENJOYED OUR STAY AND WE BOTH SLEPT WELL IN OUR RESPECTIVE BEDROOMS. This is an idyllic spot to stay by the sea which is why we have now been four consecutive years. Lovely secluded garden. Coast Hopper now stops on the village green making it even easier to get about.

We have stayed many times in this cottage. We come back for the peace and beauty of the location. This is a character cottage, which is snug, but comfortable. It has a pretty enclosed garden and a great pub next door. There are many gorgeous walks straight from the doorstep. A really lovely place to stay .
