In the spacious lounge, the seating is gathered around a Smart TV, while at the far end, a small dining table is the perfect spot for card games or a mug of coffee. A shower room completes the ground floor. Head to the first floor to find a king-size bedroom, with ample storage, plus a beautiful family bathroom. There’s a choice of two staircases leading to the second floor, one reaching a double bedroom and the other a twin. These rooms interconnect, and both have ceilings that slope steeply down to the floor. The enclosed garden includes a patio area with garden furniture for dining alfresco, as well as topiary hedges and a corner arbour.

In the peaceful village of Trunch, you’ll find a traditional pub, a pretty village green and a medieval church, all surrounded by an array of footpaths and country lanes. The excellent beaches of Mundesley and Cromer are 2 miles and 7.5 miles respectively, and Amazona Zoo is only 8 miles away. We had a lovely week in early/mid September and found the cottage very pretty, warm and well equipped. The stairs are a bit of a test for less-than-youthful knees and hips, but once you get used to them, and the wobbly floors that come with a 17th century cottage, it was fine. We were able to use the garden a couple of times, and the walk to the Read morenewly re-opened pub (recent change of ownership) a real treat. The villagers were friendly, the food in the pub was excellent, fresh and cooked to order. We found the bus service very useful, good value at 2 per journey and made good use of it - mainly because driving our French left hand drive car through the lanes was a little scary! The only fly in the ointment was that, on arrival we had a little problem and telephoned Original Cottages, but after being kept on hold for nearly 20 minutes with nobody answering, we managed to solve it ourselves. This is no reflection at all on Thatch Cottage, but Original Cottages might want to have more people available to answer the phone at specified arrival times. Hide

Excellent property in a small village, which is well placed for visiting the coast of North East Norfolk. You need to be physically agile to mount the stairs to the bedrooms.
