Set within the vast estate of Holkham Hall, you’re well-positioned to seek adventure on the Norfolk coast when staying in this spectacular country cottage. Holkham Hall itself is a hive of activity with a treetop ropes course, grazing deer and a pretty lake to explore, while the wider coastline stretches out in front of you to experience with walks, bike rides, nature trails and restful beach trips. Holkham Beach is less than half a mile away and offers a stunning setting for a picnic. The property itself is a luxuriously presented cottage inviting four guests and up to three dogs to call it their own, ideal for small families or a duo hoping to enjoy a little bit of extra space.

Maintained with period features yet elevated to create a contemporary place to stay, this abode really does have it all. Move past the handy ground-floor boot room and into the lounge after a day out, immediately throwing a log or two on the wood burner to warm up cold toes and switching the Smart TV on. Next door, find a dining room for mealtimes or board game nights, and a well-appointed kitchen adjacent to that. Of course, when the sun shines you can take socialisation outdoors, benefiting from enclosed, grassy surroundings with a drink in hand. Back indoors, pass the ground floor WC on your way up to the first floor where two bedrooms are found – a spacious king-size room and a cosy twin, both served by the invigorating bathroom with a freestanding bath.

Moving out of Holkham, the neighbouring locale of Wells-next-the-Sea (1.5 miles) is an appealing destination with a pretty harbour and fleets of fishing boats gently bobbing away in the water. From here you can plot a route along the famous Norfolk Coast Path to discover all that this national landscape has to offer.

Lapwing Cottage is in the perfect location for Holkham house and for the beach. It's beautifully decorated with a perfect attention to detail. We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back!
