Watch the horses and donkeys in the fields and soak in the hot tub when you stay at this cottage near Colkirk in Norfolk. Set on a small farm, it looks out over the countryside and benefits from Norfolk’s magnificent big skies both day and night. Situated 3 miles from the market town of Fakenham and 12.5 miles from Wells-next-the-Sea, the two-bedroom cottage sleeps four guests, making it ideal for a small family or two couples.

Step inside to discover the heart of this Norfolk holiday home is its open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Gather in here after your days out exploring to enjoy a piece of Norfolk shortcake, bought from a nearby farm shop or bakery, and a cup of tea. Also whip up hearty meals to sit down to at the table. Spend cosy evenings in together in front of the Smart TV or pull the doors open on summer days so everyone can wander in and out from the garden. When you are ready to turn in for the night, make your way up to the first floor, where your two king-size bedrooms are located. One of these has zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins instead if discussed in advance. There is also a family bathroom up here. Spill outside into the courtyard garden on fine days. Dine out here, unwind in the hot tub and chat together under the wide, open starry skies.

Head into Fakenham to dine out, browse in the shops or spend time at the famous racecourse. Enjoy a walk through the natural park at Pensthorpe, 5.5 miles away. Have a day out to Houghton Hall, 9.5 miles away, where you can visit the stately home, which was built for Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole in the 1720s, and enjoy its gardens.

This little cottage is truly amazing. It is home from home but with beautiful and quiet surroundings. We arrived on a cold February weekend but the cottage was lovely and warm on arrival. We enjoyed time in the hot tub and then back inside in front of the log burner. Upon reading other reviews l have never seen anyone mention the large window in thRead moree main bedroom. Laying on the bed and watching the horses roam around was truely lovely. We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys. We were looking for quality family chill time and it's exactly the experience we had. What a lovely cottage. Amazingly well appointed, beautifully decorated, brilliant amount of kitchen equipment (thank you!) and super comfy beds. Lovely wood burning stove for the chilly December nights although the cottage is brilliantly insulated and was very cosy throughout. Really great location for exploring the local area and we made the most Read moreof the easy access to different parts of the coast, nature reserves and a few fantastic pubs. The owners were available but completely unobtrusive. We really enjoyed our stay and will be returning as soon as we can. Hide

Very nice cottage. Loved the hot tub especially in November! Ideal for relaxing and getting back to a sense of normality away from a busy work week.

We have just returned from a lovely week at Swallows Return. Our hosts were wonderful, the cottage was warm, clean and super comfortable, with everything we needed along with some lovely extra touches. Just what we needed after a stressful year. The animals made things extra special, especially Penny the Donkey. We hope to return. Thankyou M & M

Thank you David and Vance for the most perfect week. The cottage is beautiful and the children felt so comfortable here. Oliver's week was made the second he set eyes on all the beautiful animals but is was made unforgettable when he got to meet and stroke the wonderful horse. We had a lovely week in a tranquil location. Our best find this holiday was the Weston leisure pool - a private pool in Weston Longville, 100% recommend for a luxury treat. We love the views and being surrounded by the animals and hope to return like the beautiful swallows.

Thank you for the warm welcome and goodies on arrival. The eggs made a beautiful breakfast. It is a beautiful place to stay with amazing views to wake up to and watch the sunset. A great week away and we hope to return.

We spent a relaxing week in this well appointed cottage, everything we needed was to hand which made the time so enjoyable. We will not hesitate to recommend Swallows Return to friends and family as it is a very good central point in Norfolk for getting around the County.

Thank you for a fabulous weekend in your lovely cottage, what a beautiful place and stunning surroundings. We all loved seeing all of the animals. We have stayed in Norfolk a few times and this is our favourite place we have been. We will be back.
