Property code: OC-C27516

This charming and stylish property, part of the prestigious Maltings development in Letheringsett, is perfect for couples, families or friends looking for a retreat close to the beautiful Norfolk coastline. The cottage is one mile outside the pretty Georgian town of Holt, which you can explore using the Owl trail, and is only a 5-mile drive away from the coast. Letheringsett is located in the valley of the River Glaven and is famous for its mill, which is the last remaining fully working watermill in Norfolk and is open to the public.

You’ll feel instantly at home in this welcoming and tastefully presented barn conversion. The full-height windows flood the open-plan living area with light, and the original exposed beams add plenty of character. Downstairs is a lovely dining area and a lounge area with comfortable sofas to sink in while you chat or enjoy a favourite film on the Smart TV. There is a step up to the kitchen, which has everything you need to serve up a delicious meal or rustle up a picnic. Head upstairs, and you’ll find two king-size bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom. Outside is an enclosed shingled courtyard with a table and chairs to the front of the property. The River Glaven runs under the Maltings development, and there is an open watercourse adjacent to the cottage where the old water wheel used to be.

The North Norfolk coast has plenty of wildlife and seabirds to discover, with Blakeney (4 miles) being the starting point for a boat trip to view the seal colonies and sea birds. From Holt station (3.5 miles), enjoy a scenic ride on the North Norfolk Railway to the seaside town of Sheringham. Alternatively, there are pretty beaches at Mundesley (18 miles) and Overstrand (13 miles), where you can build sandcastles, surf or walk along the Norfolk Coast Path.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twin beds on request)

Very comfortable cottage. Fridge very small so need to shop every day. Cottage is in a gated complex which is great for security but a pain when you have to get out of the car every time you go in or out to open and shut the gates

Beautifully appointed cottage close to my favourite town of Holt. Water pressure upstairs was poor but we arrived only for a short stay over the New Year holidays so we didnt report to the management team and only fed back to the property management after we left. This is a super property, very well appointed. We were very impressed with the standard of fittings and general decor throughout. We stayed early December and were delighted to arrive to see a 5ft high real Christmas tree, tastefully decorated, and with pretty white lights. Highly recommend The Kings Head pub for meals, just next door - 2 mins' walRead morek. We will definately want to return to this excellent accommodation Hide

Whereas the property is very well located for visiting the area, it is not made clear how close it is to the very busy main road. The weather was very hot, but it was impossible to keep the bedroom windows open at night due to the constant traffic. We had wrongly assumed the online map was showing the village rather the exact location of the cottagRead moree. Apart from this, the cottage was very clean and comfortable, but we would probably be unlikely to rebook, certainly during the warmer months, due to it's closeness to the road. Hide
