This stylish cottage set in the heart of the pretty village of Castle Acre is perfect for couples or friends looking for a peaceful holiday in Norfolk. Historic Castle Acre takes its name from the walled castle built by the Normans. Explore the Castle ruins, Cluniac Priory, and the parish church of St James the Great, all within walking distance of the cottage. A popular walk from the village is the Castle Acre circular walk which takes you along the River Nar and quiet woodland paths to the village of West Acre.

This characterful two-storey end-of-terrace property with exposed timber beams and elegant furnishing has a welcoming and relaxing ambience. Downstairs the rooms are light and airy and flooded with natural light. The living room is perfect for unwinding with comfortable seating, a wood burner for chilly evenings and a Smart TV to watch your favourite films. The kitchen has all the appliances to rustle up some delicious meals. Relax in the garden room where you can spend time chatting, watching the Smart TV, or lingering over meals at the dining table. From the garden room, French patio doors lead out to the garden. Upstairs are a family bathroom and two king-size bedrooms - one with a Smart TV. Outside you’ll find a patio area with garden furniture and BBQ.

Head to Wells-next-the-Sea for a traditional day at the seaside or to Snettisham Beach, both less than 20 miles away, to enjoy the beach, walks along the coastal path, and the wildlife at Snettisham Reserve. At Swaffham (4 miles), the River Nar meets the ancient Peddars Way, a popular route with walkers. Our second visit, and twice as good as our first, last year! Why, because we stayed 2 weeks rather than one. This cottage has everything that's needed for a truly relaxing break: comfort, character, peaceful, location, equipment and goodies - not to mention the super little cottage garden. A new discovery this year - Oxborough: a fascinating churchRead more, demolished when the tower fell on it and partly restored. Well worth a visit, as indeed is the Beddingfield Arms, beside the church, very nice food, very nice ambience. Hide

A 'wow' of a cottage with a lovely bright extension and nice garden space. Perfect for two of us. The inside was well laid out, high end quality fixtures, fittings and furniture. Great towels and linen. Excellent shower, great water pressure and cosy slipper bath. The parking spot directly outside the front of the cottage, in the parking area waRead mores always free when we returned to the cottage. The cottage's owners were generous with their welcome provisions and the local village shop was excellent. The village itself a heritage hot spot, with an English Heritage managed castle (open access) and Priory (seasonal opening), two pubs - both offering excellent beer and decent wine within walking distance (one 2 minutes with amazing architecture in the backroom, the other 20 minutes), a high-end cafe offering brunch and lunch and a fish and chip shop. An absolute gem of a village. As the cottage booking details suggest the ground floor to first floor staircase is classic cottage and a little bit tight and steep, but had a good sturdy handrail and was carpeted. We only ventured to the top bedroom once, to take a look, deciding to sleep on the first floor. Hide
