The thatched cottage enjoys a peaceful location on the edge of a wood, in the charming village of Hemblington. Sleeping four guests, the cosy cottage makes a great base for couples and small families seeking a quiet, countryside bolthole. The area is a haven for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts, with picturesque walks in the Norfolk Broads, just 2.5 miles away, and the nearby nature reserve at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen (3 miles).

The chocolate-box retreat has a beautiful blend of traditional features and contemporary home comforts, creating a cosy and characterful base for your holiday. Enter the property into the inviting lounge, with its beamed ceiling, plush seating, and original fireplace housing a warming wood burner. From here, head through to the kitchen/diner, where you’ll find everything needed to rustle up tasty meals for the group, to enjoy together at the wooden dining table. A stylish shower room completes the ground floor. Upstairs, two cosy bedrooms are set in the eaves, under a fabulous beamed ceiling (please note, these rooms have restricted head height in some areas). Outside, soak up the sunshine on the south-facing patio, which boasts comfortable outdoor seating. There’s also a fully enclosed lawn that’s ideal for children and four-pawed guests.

The twin villages of Wroxham and Hoveton are 6 miles away and, collectively, are known as the capital of the Broads. Hire a boat here or hop on a cruise to explore the ancient network of waterways. The villages have an excellent array of independent eateries, many with waterside views. The cottage is also within easy reach of the coast. For a relaxing day at the seaside, head to the unspoilt fishing village of Winterton-on-Sea (15.5 miles), where you’ll find a sandy beach, dramatic coast path, pretty thatched cottages, and cosy village pub.

We would recommend this cottage as was such a great location for seeing the area. The cottage was very clean and had every facility you would need. The garden was very secluded and lovely patio to sit out on an evening. Good off street parking also. Great bathroom and shower.

Lovely old cottage, slightly smaller than expected but big enough for us(3 adults and a dog). Garden was great for the dog although he did escape into the garden on the right through a small gap in the fence behind a tree.We did manage to sit out 2 nights between the showers and it got the sun right up to 6 o'clock. Situated on a quiet road I walkRead moreed the dog from the cottage every morning approx 3 miles circular. Loads of walks within a short drive which I found on the All trails app.Horsey windmills and dunes walk approx 9km long with loads of seals on the beach at Horsey. There appeared to be shot gun blasts starting from 5am every morning but we later found out that it was something set up to scare the birds from the farmers fields. Main bedroom was fine however the floor does slope and you can feel it while lying in the bed,but it's an old building and just adds to its character. We did have a few ants in the kitchen when we put the dogs food out the first night but it is in the countryside and we just fed him outside after that so no problem. There is Ant spray in the kitchen but we didn't want to use it with the dog about. All in all its a great cottage and we never had to call the hosts for anything. We would highly recommend it Hide
