We had a wonderful five-night stay over Christmas and found The Granary absolutely perfect for our needs. The spacious layout and high-end fittings made it incredibly comfortable, while the luxurious, well-equipped kitchen meant we could prepare a full Christmas dinner for six with ease. The Aga kept the whole property wonderfully warm and cosy thrRead moreoughout our stay. From the thoughtful welcome tray on arrival to the extra touches such as the hot tub, table tennis and the animals just outside, everything really added to the experience. A particularly special highlight was the owner kindly bringing over an electric piano for us to play, which made the break feel truly memorable. We couldnt have asked for a better Christmas getaway. Many thanks to Tracey and her family! Hide

The Granary is a stunning property! We had a wonderful family holiday. Everything was thought of from the welcome pack and fizz to slippers and extra towels for the hot tub. This is a gem of a find and was well positioned to explore both the coast and the broads. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The Granary presents itself as a high-end rural holiday property, but its setting and several design shortcomings limit its suitability for guests seeking a quiet and comfortable retreat. Access is via a narrow, poorly maintained lane with multiple large potholes. The property is opposite a large yard filled with stock racing cars in various staRead moretes of repair and piles of rusting vehicle parts. This detracts significantly from the appeal of the setting and is at odds with the property's premium positioning. Vehicle parking is possible for up to three cars; however, the access gate is tight, and manoeuvring larger vehicles would be challenging. The courtyard area outside the entrance is paved with polished slabs which become extremely slippery when wet, posing a potential hazard. Internally, the property is well appointed and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. The kitchen includes a wide range of equipment, though if the Aga is not used then catering for larger groups is constrained by the two small electric ovens provided. Communal areas are spacious and benefit from large windows, offering good natural light. However, the bedrooms and bathrooms are comparatively small and provide limited storage and restricted space. Crucially, the location is not peaceful. While the busy A140 lies only 130 metres away, the primary source of disturbance is the active stock car engineering business directly opposite the property. During our stay, there were multiple early morning noise events, including a significant disruption at 06:30 on our first morning involving a large truck being loaded with stock cars, right outside our bedroom window. Thermal comfort is also an issue. The large glazed sections contribute to excessive heat build-up during summer sunny weather. The property lacks air-conditioning, and upstairs bedrooms become uncomfortably hot. This is exacerbated by the use of plastic mattress and pillow protectors. Furthermore, the two upstairs bedrooms feature large triangular windows with no blinds or curtains, resulting in excessive early morning light and disrupted sleep. The Granary is a clean and well-specified property offering generous communal living space. However, its practical shortcomingsparticularly with respect to noise, location, thermal regulation and light compromise its suitability if you are looking for a restful rural holiday destination. The surrounding environment and architectural choices significantly detract from the overall guest experience. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm that we will discuss this with the owner. Hide

The cottage is very comfortable for 6 adults or families, every bedroom having its own en-suite. There is a pub in the village, a short walk from the property and its open everyday. There is no road sign at the end of the lane but it is the only lane between the village and the main road. The hot tub is big enough for 6 adults and work well, the tRead moreable tennis table puddles water when it rains but it dries quickly if the puddles are cleared. A lovely location with lots of walks within a short distance and not too far from the coast. Hide
