A pleasent enough stay. However with a heat sensor in the kitchen and a smoke alarm at the top of the stairs (off the kitchen with no door) it makes cooking anything that might sizzle (like a steak) somewhat problematic. Maybe this is by regulation, maybe it's bad planning, but it effectivly stops you being able to cook. Other than that, a nice enoRead moreugh cottage in a very good location. Hide

This is a delightful cosy cottage. The kitchen is tiny but is workable for two people. The location is quiet but with easy access to all that Blakeney offers. It is a bit inconvenient to have the car parked at a distance but we made it work. Very good value for money.

What can we say about Muriel Cottage? It's a wonderful cottage and positioned perfectly in the high street a very short walk to the Quay. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom a delight. The kitchen although small is perfectly formed and the log burner a wonderful asset to the house as is the modern style heating. If you like toRead more cook as I do perhaps take a roasting style tin with you if you will be cooking any roast dinner otherwise the kitchen has plenty of everything else you will need. An attractive cottage that has belonged to 3 generations of the same family. Firstly, the cottage door is not green but grey (like several of the other cottages in the loke or yard)! and we have written to suggest a helpful update in respect of this! There were lovely chats between everyone staying in the loke, including the permanent resident nextRead more to the High Street. There was a bottle of wine, and a biscuits as welcoming gifts. The cottage is small but well equipped and beautifully decorated and presented. The upstairs was lovely and spacious - the large bed was very comfortable, good storage, and the shower very efficient. We were there in the recent heatwave but, with the help of the electric fan that we took, we were able to keep the bedroom cool enough to be pleasant and to sleep. The small kitchenette was adequate but trying to prevent the beautiful wooden worktop from water damage was difficult given the minute sink! The kitchen was tiny so cooking etc was rather tricky - we didn't resort to carrying things across the yard to the outhouse to the enormous sink there, as suggested, but did use the washing machine and drying racks. We didn't find any of the chairs comfortable. The stairs are steep with a bend and could be problematic for some, and this is mentioned in the description on the website. A handrail or rope all the way up the same side would be helpful as there isn't anything continuous all the way up (currently partly on one side, then the other) Parking is a bit of an issue especially on arrival and departure for loading. You can park on the nearby harbour, free for National Trust members but not overnight and depending on the tides which regularly flood the area. Other car parks are: 1. a short walk uphill from the cottage 7 pd and needs daily renewal - limited space; 2. The Harbour Rooms higher up the High Street with daily and weekly charges - can also get full in high season; 3. The Council one mentioned on the website, across the main coast road, is large and free - we quite enjoyed strolling up and down to it (5-ish minutes) but it would be a different story in bad weather and the dark (street lighting is minimal in Blakeney ( the cottage had 2 bright torches). The cottage is within easy walking distance of pubs, cafes and the harbour. We would certainly consider staying here again. Hide

Lovely cottage, tastefully decorated and accessorised and right in the centre of Blackeney. The kitchen is small, however it does contain all the equipment necessary for cooking if required. A perfect spot for exploring Norfolk.

Very pretty cottage with all you need for a comfortable holiday. Well equipped kitchen with full oven, microwave and dishwasher. Even a washing machine in the outhouse. The wood burner really warms the place througRead moreh and was very necessary in March - the central heating is just background heat. We managed to buy enough reconstituted wood for a few days in the local Spar, but the sack of real logs was too big. Smaller sacks of logs can be found in the Nisa at Wells. Great location, a few metres from the quay and a couple of nice restaurants. We were able to park just up the hill for 6 per day as it was low season. You can stop there free (take a ticket) for 30 minutes, which would be time to unload/load, if theres space. The outhouse for the bikes was a real bonus. Wed be happy to come back in warmer seasons. This cottage exceeded expectations. It looked very recently redecorated and was lovely and clean. The location is fantastic (and very quiet, at least in March, tucked away just off the main street), with excellent restaurant and coffee shop/artisanal bakery two minutes walk away by the quay. Five minutes up the hill there is a useful free car park Read moreand a shop. The bed is comfortable, there are plenty of coat-hangers and a huge chest of drawers, and the enormous shower room with decent sized hand basin is of baronial proportions. There was everything we needed equipment-wise in the little kitchen. In the sitting room, the wifi and TV worked fine and there were books too, and a big light to read by. Plus plenty of sockets for charging devices! It was frosty outside but we were very cosy. Had the weather been warmer we would have brought our bikes - the lockable outhouse to keep them in was something we liked. We really enjoyed our stay and I'd love to come back. Hide

It's a great cottage for 2 in a lovely location. It is well equipped and, once it is warm, stays nicely warm. The stove is good but the bags of wood sold in the Spar were far too large for the 3 nights we stayed. Sadly, the pubs are pretty dull even on Friday and Saturday nights. I highly recommend Muriel Cottage: as well as its excellent location, it's clean, comfortable, and extremely homely. The living room is very cosy (the wood-burner is a treat and very effective!) and the kitchen, although small, is well-equipped.
