This grand property, situated in Thurlton just outside the Norfolk Broads National Park, is perfect for big family occasions or friends’ reunions. Sleeping ten guests over five peaceful bedrooms with space for up to two dogs, everyone can join in on the fun at this fabulous stately holiday home. Spend sunny evenings wandering around the garden that opens out onto rolling countryside, getting cosy when it gets a bit chilly by gathering around the fire pit.
The property, which is accessed via a superb tree-lined driveway, is spacious and inviting. The kitchen/diner is fresh and bright with contemporary units blended with farmhouse-style furnishings, while the formal dining room – once the parish meeting room – has a relaxing atmosphere and a working piano for the musician of the family. The living spaces have a more elegant feel; a sitting room, a snug and a library all have their own character with bold decor, wood burners or open fires and comfortable seating in each. Choose from one of two staircases and head upstairs to the bedrooms; pastel tones and thoughtful furnishings ensure that you get a good night’s sleep wherever you lay your head. There are two zip-and-link super-king-size rooms, a double, a twin and a bunk room. In the morning, take a revitalising shower in either one of the two en-suites or head to either of the bathroom for a soak in the roll-top bath or a shower. A large garden wraps around the property with a rose pavilion, a fire pit and a tree house. There are country views in every direction and you’ll often get to see wildlife in the garden.
Children will love a trip to Pettitts Animal Adventure Park (4.5 miles) or Redwings Horse Sanctuary Caldecott (7 miles). For a great family day out, hire a boat from Saint Olaves (5 miles) and head off down the Norfolk Broads. Gorleston-on-Sea Beach is just 11.5 miles away and is popular with swimmers, but if you’re not keen on chilly waters head to the heated Beccles Lido (6.5 miles). Visit the fine city of Norwich (15.5 miles) for a bit of history, shopping and pubs.
