The small village of Gunthorpe is a lovely and peaceful area to enjoy some quiet. The coast is not far away at all with stone beaches at Cley and Salthouse. Salthouse also has the beautiful dog friendly pub - The Dun Cow this is a fabulous local favourite with uninterrupted views over the salt marshes. Slightly further afield you can find sandy beaches as Wells Next To The Sea and Holkham. Wells is the perfect place for a day out as friends or with the family, offering many fish and ship shops, arcades, cafes and restaurants and boutique shops and most importantly the beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles. Blakeney and Morston also host seal trips from the quay where you can see the seals and their pups in thousands at Blakeney Point.
Just 6 miles away is the pretty, bustling market town of Holt, this town offers an array of eateries, cafes, art galleries and antique shops and the North Norfolk Steam Railway, or explore the many trails on foot and bike in Holt Country Park set among 100 acres of woodland. and for traditional seaside family fun, Cromer offers amusements, crazy golf, Amazona Zoo and a great choice of seafood restaurants many serving locally caught fresh seafood including the famous Cromer Crab.
All year round the surrounding areas are perfect for keen bird watches, springtime brings the migrating birds, spring flowers and the striking fields of yellow gorse up on Kelling Heath. Autumn is a birders’ paradise with more migrating birds with fantastic bird watching sites at Cley, Sheringham Park, Titchwell, Stiffkey and Snettisham.
