This charming thatched barn in pretty rural Norfolk offers tranquil accommodation for a couple or a single traveller. Attached to the owner’s cottage in the quiet village of Upton, this one-bedroom offers privacy and a serene atmosphere. Nearby you can stroll to the River Bure (0.5 miles) to observe kingfishers, herons and other wildlife, while at nearby Acle (2.5 miles) and South Walsham (2 miles) you can hire boats to discover the Upton Broads and Marshes by water. This sweet retreat welcomes up to two guests and one dog.

Inside the accommodation, the open-plan living area is a lovely place to unwind together, with panelled wooden walls, a striking striped carpet and French doors leading outside. Perhaps you’ll choose to watch some TV after a busy day out, or relax with a good book. The large dining table is great for a candlelit dinner or meal for one, prepared in the contemporary kitchen which you’ll access via an archway. Up the stairs, a twin bedroom awaits and there’s a Z-bed available for if you have an additional guest. The gorgeous lawned garden will really come into its own in mild weather, where you can sip morning coffee on the patio and eat dinner outside amid the mature plants.

You’ll be in a rural spot 0.5 miles from the nearest pub and shop. For an adventure-packed day out, head to the lively Broadland village of Wroxham and hire a day cruiser or, if you fancy discovering the area by rail, take a scenic journey on the Bure Valley Railway. Keen for a day by the coast? Caister-on-Sea (9 miles) is a large seaside village with unspoilt beaches whereas the larger resort of Great Yarmouth (11 miles) adds amusement parks, a model village and an aquarium to its list of attractions.

The overall experience staying at Little Barn was excellent. The owners were very pleasant and helpful and the property was finished and kitted out to a very high standard. We recommend staying here as it is a wonderful base for exploring the delights of this part of Norfolk.

Have an ongoing complaint awaiting resolution- we spent less than 12 hours in the property due to damp and dirty bedding and general musty smell throughout

We really enjoyed our stay at Little Barn. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and well equipped. The outdoor patio was great for meals and relaxing in the sun. The location was quiet with an abundance of birds. There's lovely walks from the barn with access to the local nature reserve and some broads, rivers and dykes not too far awayRead more. Jan the owner was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back another time. Hide

The Little Barn was excellent for what we needed for a few days. Only issue was the unfenced garden and pillows but otherwise it was comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly and onsite. Situated in a lovely quiet area close to many attractions, especially the Norfolk Broads. Would definitely recommend!
