If you are looking for a base in which to explore Norfolk then look no further than Primrose Cottage, set in a peaceful village with a pub, with Norwich, The Broads and the coast all within easy reach.
This romantic retreat for two blends original features with pretty decorations, and has a wonderfully tranquil, cosy feel. Enjoy a cruise on the waterways or a trip to the seaside, then relax at home while you listen to the owls hooting in the nearby trees.
Step into the entrance hall of this charming, single-storey cottage, and head into the light-filled, open-plan living space, with double French doors that you can throw open to bring the outside in. A brick fireplace is the focal point of the lounge area, with an inset wood burner-effect electric fire. Comfortable seating is gathered here, and there’s a TV/DVD so you can relax with a movie or TV show. The kitchen area has plenty of storage and worktop space for preparing holiday treats, which you can eat at the sweet dining table by the window. The double bedroom has a cottage-style feel, with painted-brick walls and stripped-wood detailing, and there’s a bright bathroom next door. Head outside for a drink or meal on your private patio, which looks onto a lawned garden shared with three other cottages. If you feel like stretching your legs, wander along to the summer house and around the owner’s grounds - where may even bump into some friendly resident sheep.
This lovely property is in the village of Hainford, where there’s an excellent country pub. Wander around the Norman cathedral and castle in Norwich, less than 8 miles away, perhaps rounding off the day with some shopping and a meal out. Or head to Wroxham, also only around 7 miles away, where you can hire a dayboat and explore the beautiful Norfolk Broads. In ever-popular Cromer, 17 miles, there’s a sandy beach and renowned Victorian pier, while Sheringham, 21 miles, is another traditional seaside town which also has a steam railway.
