Set in the heart of the ancient rural village of Whissonsett, this delightful annexe to the owner's 17th-century property is perfect for couples looking for a romantic countryside retreat. The cottage is opposite the 900-year-old church, and this quaint village is ideal if you want to enjoy a slower pace of life on your holiday. Whissonsett is on 'The Lost Villages of Breckland cycle route and close to the traditional market town of Fakenham (10 miles), home of the famous Fakenham Races and nearby Pensthorpe Lake and woodland.

This welcoming cottage is a real home-from-home, and you can leave your cares behind as soon as you step through the doorway. This stylish single-storey property has a covered porch and doorway entrance into a spacious and inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The ambience is cheerful, with white-washed walls and pops of colour in the decor and furnishings, meaning each area has a distinct feel. The kitchen has all the equipment you need to prepare a late brunch or romantic dinner, and the dining table affords views of the beautiful St Mary's church opposite. After dinner, relax in the lounge, where you can snuggle up on the sofa, watch TV, or read a book. The feature fireplace has a wood burner effect electric fire for cooler evenings. Completing this delightful cottage is a contemporary shower room with a walk-in shower and a king-size bedroom with a TV. Head outside to the front of the property, where you’ll find the patio area, relax on the table and chairs and fire up the BBQ for al fresco dining on fine evenings.

Cottage had everything that I wanted and was perfect for one or two people. As I wanted to visit all the heritage railways in the area this was an excellent location to access them all. Hosts were kind and very knowledgeable about the area.

Eric's Cottage is a superb hideaway where you have all the peace, quiet and comfort you choose or is within easy driving distance of all that Norfolk has to offer. We are regular visitors to North Norfolk, but we have aways stayed on the coast. This new area slightly inland was great we found some interesting places to visit. Erics Cottage was just perfect, and the owners really helpful with places to see & eat. Hopefully we will get to visit again next year.

Lovely cottage ideal for those wanting everything on one level. Well equipped, clean and bright with lots of windows. Clearly a well looked after property. Excellent walk in shower, which is ideal for the larger person. Small outside patio at the front of the property overlooking a wonderful garden. A lovely well equipped place for the two of us, with two very pleasant hosts who were there if we needed advice and otherwise left us alone. Fantastically placed if you have a wedding to go to at Godwick old barn and want to make a weeks holiday of the trip, as we did.

Lovely, clean, well decorated cottage. All the amenities and facilities you could want. All on one level, with a wet floor shower, (shower-seat available if required). Just had 4 lovely days at Eric's cottage and wish we could have stayed longer. Eric's Cottage is a little gem. The owners Steve and Leigh are lovely people, always full of useful ideas etc, always there if you need them but NEVER in your face, and extremely welcoming. The cottage itself is a treasure, cosy, comfortable and welcoming, it's like coming home. A great place for couples old and young.
