  • An ideal base for family or friends to explore the stunning North Norfolk coast and countryside

This gorgeous flint-faced bolthole sits in the heart of the Norfolk Coast AONB with beaches, the coastal path and National Trust Nature Reserves nearby. The perfect destination for lovers of the great outdoors, whisk family or friends away to enjoy adventurous days and relaxing nights curled up by the wood burner.

Step inside and brew a welcoming cup of tea in the country-style kitchen where you’ll find mugs and utensils hanging ready to be used. The fridge has an ice compartment so you can chill your tipples before sitting down at the table and tucking into a delicious feast together. After dinner, bask in the last of the sun on the patio and watch your four-pawed pals as they run free on the lawn, or settle in the cosy lounge where a wood burner promises to keep you warm. There’s a TV for quiet nights in or a radio so you can listen to music whilst planning tomorrow’s outing. End your day with a soak in the tub on the first floor before getting snuggly under the covers in one of three pretty and tranquil bedrooms. There’s a handy WC on the ground floor so you don’t have to climb the stairs often, and please note that the courtyard has parking but is shared with next door.

The pretty village of Wareham is a great base from which to explore North Norfolk and has a welcoming local pub so you can reward the day’s walks with a tasty meal. Explore the Norfolk Coast AONB and spot seals at Blakeney Point (6.5 miles) where you can book boat trips; enjoy beach days at Wells-next-to-the-Sea (3 miles); or pay glorious Holkham a visit (5 miles).

Woodpecker Cottage is well situated just a couple of miles from the beach but quiet and away from the crowds. It is comfortable and we'd stay again. The garden is grassy and dog proof.

The cottage was comfortable and very well located for accessing the main attractions in the area. The location was quiet once the RAF jets had finished circulating. The village pub (The Three Horseshoes) is only about 200 yards away and is excellent

Amazing cottage, really good value and the location is very good. The cottage was really well maintained, I would agree with the lack of shower pressure but the bath ran quick and everything was exceptionally clean and very well presented, really charming place. Brilliant location with nice walk to Wells next the Sea (about 1hr). Very good pub close by but make sure you make a reservation as quite small and very popular. Homemade pies were excellent! The house itself is well laid out. Useful to have an add toilet downstairs. Could do with a bit more comfort - no underlay on carpet, mattresses hard. KitchenRead more equipment could do with updating. No freezer, dishwasher or washing machine. Not bothered about washing machine but an icebox would have been handy Hide

Lovely cottage in a lovely location. Fantastic food and drink at the local pub, just down the road. The garden is very dog friendly and secure one of our Golden retrievers did however manage to get out into the field at the back of the property she is a bit of a houdini and we had been keeping a close eye on her, thinking of renting her out to testRead more dog friendly cottage gardens. We didnt feel the kitchen to be best equipped for a weeks worth of cooking, and therefore made use of the local pub. Hide

Woodpecker cottage is lovely. Great location; clean and tasteful cosy decor. I would definitely stay here again. It is quite basic though; no washing machine; dishwasher; or functioning shower So atm probably best suited to adult guests on a short term basis.
