This delightful holiday retreat is nestled in the serene village of East Harling, on the edge of The Brecks. It’s a charming lodge with two bedrooms, space for three guests, making it ideal for couples, small family groups or friends and your furry friend, too. Scenic lake and river views make it a delight during the warmer months, while the cosy wood burner keeps you all warm on chilly winter nights. It’s set on a working farm; with lovely trails you can follow taking in the grounds and fishing lake.

A leafy setting and lovely wood and brick exterior make this place highly attractive from the outside. Inside, an open-plan layout and bright, comfortable interiors create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Large floor-to-ceiling windows flood the main room with natural light, which has a lovely dining area for sharing meals. A double room and a single invite you to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep, with a family bathroom to start your morning right. Outside, the enclosed garden is a paradise for children and pets, complete with garden furniture for fresh-air dining. The nearby lake is stocked with fish for if you fancy some angling during your stay, or walk down to the thatched riverside gazebo which offers shelter for wildlife watching.

You’ll have a pub 350 metres away and another 2 miles away in Larling. The East Harling area makes an excellent base for exploring Norfolk and Suffolk. The Brecks’ nearly 400 square miles of beautiful scenery and wildlife are a delight for nature enthusiasts, and also include the fascinating Grime's Graves – 5,000-year-old Neolithic flint mines – which history fans will be keen to experience. Nearby, Thetford Forest (10.5 miles) is a haven for cyclists and walkers with its extensive trails. Adventurous types will no doubt enjoy a visit to Go Ape for treetop fun.

This property was warm and cozy. Had all the things you needed to cook. It was very clean and joy of also having a tv in the bedroom. The owners were very kind and friendly. We had good fun fishing. Weather was very kind. Easy to use as a base to look around Norfolk and suffolk.

Shops and pubs within easy walking distance were the best feature of this property. The fishing is excellent. The worst feature is the noise. Be aware that there is an extremely noisy boarding kennel next door and on one night I had to sleep with ear plugs. Not recommended unless you like dogs.

The Lodge is a pleasant enough base in which to explore Norfolk and Suffolk. The welcome pack and web site need updating to describe any additional out of bounds areas. External noise from Snetterton, and the dog kennels are 100m away, so be prepared for both. If you're planning to be out and about most days, it probably won't affect your stay thatRead more much. Comfortable clean beds, clean bath towels, shower head and wall mirror both are positioned too low. some will find that the settee is a little low. The constant barking 24/7 by the dogs at the kennels is annoying. The river setting is a pleasant spot to relax cannot comment on the pond. it is a pity that one cannot walk in the wood.
