Set on the edge of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, this characterful family holiday cottage is perfect for a countryside village getaway filled with days by the sea and trips to nearby historical attractions and nature reserves. In the evenings you can relax by the fire in this 18th-century cottage with wooden beamed ceilings or dine alfresco in the dog-friendly, enclosed garden.
On entering this semi-detached cottage you’ll notice the original features in the cosy lounge – such as the beamed ceiling and wooden flooring. Natural light pours through the double-aspect windows into the seating area with a sofa, two armchairs and an exposed brick fireplace with a wood burner. Continue into the farmhouse-style galley kitchen with contemporary lighting, wooden countertops and tones of green throughout. Gather in the dining room for evening meals at the white, wooden table beside the Welsh dresser. Also on the ground floor is a utility room with a washing machine and a WC. Upstairs is a family bathroom plus two bedrooms – a twin room and an en-suite king-size with a TV. Outside you’ll find an enclosed garden with a patio containing furniture and a small lawned area, as well as a larger front garden with seating.
While staying in Whiton, explore the centre of the village and pop into the outdoor clothing shop or stop for refreshments at the local pub (both within 0.5 miles). Head into the Norfolk Coast National Landscape and walk around the Warham Camp Iron Age Fort (1 mile). Take your four-legged friends for a dip at Wells-next-the-Sea Beach (4.5 miles) or, in low season, dogs are welcome at the expansive sandy Holkham Beach (6 miles). You could spend all day enjoying the deer park, nature reserve and boating lake in the 25,000-acre Holkham Estate (6 miles).
