This charming cottage in the historic pilgrim village of Little Walsingham makes a perfect comfortable base for friends or couples and their canine companion to explore the village and visit local towns and beaches. The cottage has an enclosed garden with a lawn and small courtyard area, a cosy wood burner, and is opposite the Roman Catholic National Shrine.
The property has bags of character with original features and relaxed interiors. Go straight into the welcoming lounge where you’ll find comfy seating, a wood burner to keep you warm, lovely wooden floors, and a TV/DVD for relaxed evenings in. Head through to the kitchen/diner, which is very well-equipped, and there’s space to enjoy meals together at the dining table. French doors in the kitchen lead outside to the pretty walled garden. Up the cottage-style stairs are the two bedrooms, a king-size and a double, both with storage, as well as a family bathroom with a hand-held shower over the bath. Head outside from the kitchen, up the steps to the small lawned area, get the chairs out of the shed and relax. Beyond the lawn, there’s a gravelled area with an old water pump to explore.
Head over the road to the memorial, a replica of the medieval shrine of Lady Richeldis in honour of the Annunciation (about 30 metres), and wander through the peaceful gardens. Little Walsingham is also home to the ruins of a 12th-century priory and has some interesting medieval streets with shops and a museum containing a courthouse from the times of George III. Discover Norfolk’s beautiful coast and beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea (4 miles), Holkham Beach (5 miles), Cley-next-the-Sea (8.5 miles) and Brancaster (11.5 miles). For long meanders with your canine friend, wander along the coastal path.
