In the new year, Scarlett part of the team at Norfolk Cottage Care, had a wonderful stay at Seaspray with friends. Here’s her account of her stay...
Well what can I say about our wonderful weekend away... it was nothing short of perfection. Myself, my partner and friends were given the incredible opportunity to stay at the art deco style townhouse, Seaspray in Sheringham and we had the most amazing time. I live not far away from Sheringham but have never really had the time to explore the town, having only been a handful of times. However, this has all changed after our stay! We have been four times since our stay and that was only 3 weeks ago! Safe to say, we have found our new favourite place to visit in Norfolk.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm embrace as soon as we opened the front door. We left our bags in the spacious hallway and ventured around the property. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need or want with plenty of space to move around in. Through the kitchen was the dining room and living area, well I have never seen or sat on a more comfortable sofa before! Through the French doors was a large terrace with plenty of seating, perfect for a summer’s evening.
We were so excited and curious to see the rest of the property, we raced each other up the stairs to be greeted by large and beautifully laid out bedrooms. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were so clean and bright, making our stay even more enjoyable.
The one thing I was most excited about was the view from the property. I had heard so much about this view before I stayed and once we saw it for ourselves we were completely blown away. It is one of the most picturesque views I have ever seen.
The morning after we arrived, we woke up early to watch the sunrise from the balcony and we were most certainly not disappointed. The lethargic sound of the crashing waves and early morning birds singing away, really made our morning coffee on the first-floor balcony incredibly enjoyable. We felt like we were staying at a beach house in Miami!
After soaking up the fresh morning sea air overlooking the most beautiful view, we wanted to venture into Sheringham. To walk to the town, there is a convenient slope which takes you from the top of the hill, where the property is, right down to the promenade, taking about 4 minutes at a leisurely pace. We entered the town and visited every single high street shop! We bought lots of snacks for the evening and I managed to purchase a lovely dress and my partner bought a thick jumper and wellies.
As it reached lunchtime, we decided to eat in town rather than heading back to the property. There is so much choice in Sheringham with lots of lovely little cafes but our heads were turned by the delicious smell coming from the hog roast stall outside the American style diner. With plenty of toppings, we were in heaven!
After having a spot of lunch, we wanted to go back to Seaspray and enjoy the view and cuddle up on the sofa with a film. Later in the evening we were joined by our friends at the property and decided to head out to a local restaurant. We found a wonderful restaurant called Sammy’s Bar & Grill in East Runton, the next town over from Sheringham. We had the most incredible supper, starting with a sharer of cheesy garlic bread and cheesy nachos, followed by a King Prawn Linguine, two well-presented and tasty burgers and a meat feast pizza. The portion sizes were perfect and the food was beautifully cooked. We were so impressed that we will be revisiting my partner's birthday later in the year.
After a wonderful nights sleep at Seaspray, the following morning we decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday morning Full English fry up! We quickly found a quaint little cafe, Submarine Cafe, which was just a three minute walk from our door. We all very much enjoyed our breakfast, after which we decided to take a stroll through Sheringham, soaking up the sea air, for one last time before we had to head back home.
With a final goodbye to Seaspray, we all just stood on the terrace and admired the picturesque view, something that will stay with us all forever.
Leaving Seaspray with a lifetime of memories, we have also found our new favourite place to visit, Sheringham, our favourite restaurant, Sammy’s Bar and Grill and probably one of the best places we have ever stayed, Seaspray. We will be returning, and I am already so excited for it! Thank you, Norfolk Cottages.
