With all the recent excitement of Wimbledon, has it left you thinking you could be the next Andy Murray or Serena Williams – or at least made you think about dusting off your racket and having a game?
You could combine a holiday stay in Norfolk with a mini family tournament of your own as we do have a number of properties that have their own tennis courts for you to use.
Another option is to enter the Hunstanton Tennis Tournament.
Ever since 1920, during August – Hunstanton (Sunny Hunny) holds a huge tennis event; in fact, today it remains the UK’s largest tennis tournament! The grounds are situated on the southern edge of the Norfolk coastal town and hold 38 grass courts……
When August arrives, the tournament attracts around 1100 entries and competitors of all ages & abilities; expert tennis players to eager beginners are welcome. On the entry form, you are required to state your age and ability so that you will be paired with someone of a similar age and ability to you - and then the match remains a fun and fair game for all.
Within the area, there are many stalls, which include clothing brands, gift stalls, food and drink tents plus local companies selling and advertising their products. They come along to support the tennis and to entertain you whilst you watch or wait for your matches.
The week concludes with a fantastic barn party, which is a great way to celebrate all your achievements with lots of great attractions to enjoy. In recent years there has been a bucking bronco, cage dancing, foam party, chocolate fountains, dodgems, photo booths and much more!
