Dalegate Market, Burnham Deepdale
Dalegate Christmas Market is worthy of a short break in its own right. I've been attending for a couple of years now - usually making a day of it with my daughter, mum, grandmother and sister (four generations of eager shoppers!).
Why do I like it so much? Well, I am passionate advocate of buying local and supporting small businesses and artists. This market comprises of 100 plus stalls offering everything from locally made sloe gin and cured salamis to jewellery, paintings and handbags. Some of my favourite stalls are those from Marsh Pig, Bringing The Outside In, Holkham Forge, Naked Wool and The Norfolk Sloe Company (oh, and Ruff and Tumble for your four-legged friend!). Although, I am sure to buy gifts from many more.
As you amble round the stalls (don't miss the Church too) you'll also be entertained with live, festive music from the likes of Frank Sonata, Jessie's Ghost, Emma Fleming, East Angles Brass Band and Addison's Uncle.
You'll also find foodie stalls and street food perfect for a lunchtime stop and the ever-popular Deepdale Cafe for a well-earned sit-down. Brancaster Beach is also on your doorstep for a refreshing post-shopping walk. The market has free parking and welcomes dogs with open arms (and husbands too if they haven't managed to escape!).
All in all, a day at Dalegate's Christmas Market is not only guaranteed to get you in the festive mood, but also ensure you're the giver of the best Christmas this year.
I enjoy walking along Norfolk's beaches with my family and dog, theatre trips, dancing, laughing and knocking up a scrumptious feast for friends using local produce finished with a tipple of Norfolk Saffron's King Harry orange and saffron liqueur!
