Imagine a place where you can take a well deserved break from the daily grind AND indulge your love of all things vintage. A place which is brimming with things to do, shops galore, and dining opportunities- all in true vintage style.  I’m going to let you into a little secret. There is such a place…. Norfolk!

You’ll need more than just one day though!

Vintage ShoppingJunk and Gems is one of the best places to go in Norwich if you are looking for vintage homewares to add to your collection. Whichever decade you find yourself living in you are bound to find something from this charming boutique on Magdalen Street.

Oola Boola in Holt is my idea of a dressing up box! I never fail to leave empty handed after a rummage through this well stocked emporium. With rails of clothing, and oodles of accessories from a range of periods, this place is a must if you’re looking to add to your vintage wardrobe.

If you are looking for vintage items that are a little harder to find then Past Caring in Holt is most certainly worth a visit. With items from the 1800s onwards, this bijoux premises is a collector’s dream!

Vintage EventsFor one special day in summer the sleepy village of Heydon comes alive with all things vintage. The tiny village hall opens its doors and grounds to stall holders selling clothing and homewares at the Heydon Vintage Lover Fair.

Wroxham Barns Super Dooper 70s Car Rally certainly lives up to its name. I love any excuse to don a loud 70s print, and this rally is the perfect excuse! It’s a fantastic mix of car enthusiasts and people who love all things 70s… (Don’t be surprised if you get stuck in a convoy of the most amazing cars on your way to and from this event.)

Catch the Poppyline to the 1940s! Each year thousands of people from all over the country make their way to the North Norfolk Coast to take part in the Sheringham 1940s weekend. The town comes alive with the sights and sounds of wartime Britain.

In the height of summer Whitwell and Reepham railway host their annual steam rally. It’s a very popular event which attracts steam buffs, as well as families, and people wanting to glimpse magnificent machines of the past.

A Spot of Tea?Biddies Tea Room in either Norwich or Aylsham is the ideal place to spend an indulgent afternoon. Select your finger sandwiches and sweet treats and have them served on a cake stand (just how afternoon tea should be served!). You can also choose from a very wide range of delicious teas. The tea rooms are decked out with antiques and curious, offering a very cosy and quintessentially British spot to enjoy afternoon with friends.

I enjoy walking along Norfolk's beaches with my family and dog, theatre trips, dancing, laughing and knocking up a scrumptious feast for friends using local produce finished with a tipple of Norfolk Saffron's King Harry orange and saffron liqueur!
