Summer Holiday Fun!

Fun and entertainment can always be guaranteed during the summer months in Norfolk. Hopefully the sun will be shining too!With traditional carnivals, festivals, country fairs, and food & drink shows happening across the county there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

Here is just a small selection on what’s happening over the next couple of months.....

Throughout July & AugustThe Woodforde’s Ale Trail is designed to encourage people to support pubs in East Anglia and will return this summer with, for the first time in its history, a smartphone App to make navigating pubs even easier. – Alternatively as in previous years, use a printed guidebook, available from participating outlets. Collect stickers for Woodforde’s pints purchased in each Trail pub visited (one per pub). The more stickers collected, the bigger and better the prizes from the Norfolk brewery; from a limited edition t-shirt to bottles and boxes of beer. For more information visit

Until 24th October 2015Houghton Hall – LightScape, James TurrellOne of the world’s most acclaimed artists, American James Turrell will create a site-specific light work which will illuminate the entire west façade of Houghton Hall as part of a major exhibition of his work which will open to the public. The spectacular light display will be visible from dusk and will provide a unique experience as an exciting climax to the exhibition.

Sunday 19th – Sunday 26th July 2015Holt FestivalHolt's a place where small businesses, butchers and fishmongers thrive and where cafés, restaurants and antique shops are plentiful. During festival week, briefly and dazzlingly, it is home to musicians, poets, actors, dancers, artists and comedians. Norfolk Country Cottages are also pleased to be sponsoring the Steeleye Span – theatre in the woods concert which is taking place on Sunday 26th July.

Saturday 25th July 2015Porkstock is a celebration of Norfolk produce, with of course the focus on all things Pork! By day it’s a free food festival highlighting all that is great from the region with a wide variety of food and drink companies promoting their wares. By night Porkstock becomes a celebration of live music, great beer and of course some tasty food. Unfortunately the evening is not suitable for children and is a ticket only event. Saturday 25th July – Sunday 26th July 2015Worstead FestivalThis year the popular Worstead Festival celebrates its 50th year anniversary. Two display rings with lots of exciting acts for all the family including vintage car display, dog & duck herding plus much much more.

Saturday 25th July – Sunday 26th July 2015Holkham Country FairThe fair ensures two days of fun and interest for all ages, thanks to a full programme of events and displays in the Grand Ring, from morning to evening. More than 200 trade stands and a large variety of showground events complete the mix. One of the themes of the fair is the celebration of the English countryside.

Wednesday 29th July 2015Sandringham Flower ShowThe Sandringham Flower Show is a very firm favourite in the events calendar, mixing flower and produce competitions, trade stands, amateur and professional display gardens and a wealth of arena events. It is always the busiest day of the year on the estate, welcoming over 20,000 visitors.

Friday 31st July – Sunday 9th August 2015Wells CarnivalDuring the week there is something for everyone - including live music, sandcastle & crabbing competitions, teddy bears picnic plus lots of children’s fun days. The actual Carnival day is on Saturday 8th August when a large parade works its way round the seaside town.

Saturday 1st August – Sunday 9th August 2015Sheringham CarnivalThe Carnival was started twenty-five years ago, and has grown with each successive year, and now provides a week of fun and entertainment for all the family, due to the willing band of volunteers that organise it.

Saturday 8th August 2015Blickling Hall - 1940s PartyTo celebrate the 75 years of the National Trust at Blickling - They are holding a 1940s party! With a fantastic firework display, spitfire display and great music - come in fancy dress and enjoy this unique wonderful Norfolk event.

Saturday 8th August –Sunday 9th August 2015Sandringham Food & Drink FestivalYou can browse, sample and buy a huge variety of food and drink produce, both from the local region and from the international community, as well as enjoying live music all weekend. There will be a Real Ale Marquee set up to satisfy all your thirsty needs, and many other events and activities taking place for visitors of all ages.

Saturday 15th – Friday 24th August 2015Cromer CarnivalThe renowned Cromer Carnival is a spectacular week-long event. The actual carnival day will be held on Wednesday 19th August with the spectacular parade traveling through the town on the evening.

Monday 31st August 2015The Aylsham ShowThe Aylsham Show is a traditional one-day agricultural show, with an average attendance in the region of 18,000 and is the largest one-day agricultural show in East Anglia. It is held in the beautiful parkland setting of Blickling - a National Trust Estate, and one of the most beautiful sites in the County.
