It's A Dog's Life...

Some of our guests who recently stayed at Woodbine Cottage were kind enough to send the below in, telling us all about their holiday with Sparky the Jack Russell – We thought it would be nice to share it with you.

Some folk find the prospect of putting their dog in a kennel too difficult to accept especially if they are taking a mini break in the UK.

Therefore it is comforting to know that there is a wide choice of “dog friendly” holiday lets available from Norfolk Country Cottages. A particular weekend in March saw Sparky, the Jack Russell and his owners spend a few days in Ludham the perfect base for walkers and birdwatchers.

Not one of the mainstream places on the Norfolk Broads, Ludham is a quieter, picturesque village next to which is a boaters cut and a magnificent stop off at Womack Staithe. The latter being an ideal place to avoid the busier Broads areas but close enough to visit one or two, should the temptation arise.

Woodbine Cottage at Womack is one of many pet friendly Norfolk Country Cottages properties, where well behaved dogs are welcome. As an added bonus the Kings Arms public house is 5 minutes walk away and welcomes canine companions with their well-behaved owners, in the bar area.

A wide choice of delicious home cooked food is available, very reasonably priced and the locals are extremely friendly. For the fisherman in the households, the Staithe itself is noted for its roach, bream, perch and pike fishing so it’s a case of wandering over the road from the cottage to wet a line or hiring one of the many variations of boat from the Staithe, by the hour, to venture outside of the Staithe to find complete tranquillity.

A local map is all you need to find the numerous broads and trails, beautiful countryside walks and excellent sandy beaches nearby and along the Norfolk Coast, a short drive away. Sparky Holiday Snaps. Sea Palling in particular is a tremendous beach on which to let the dog run whilst you fill your lungs with the uplifting sea air. When the weather is warm and sunny there is nothing better than a bit of sun bathing in a Norfolk Country Cottage, holiday home garden.

Norfolk woodland areas and coastal paths are a dog walker’s paradise. On holiday and not a kennel in sight!
