For an exciting day out, why not head to Fakenham Racecourse. The track is left-handed, almost a square in shape, with a circumference of about a mile and the venue prides itself in providing a warm, friendly welcome in a relaxed atmosphere.

Coming up on Sunday 31st May 2015 is the popular annual event “Ladies Day”

Think Pimms, Champagne, strawberries, sunny weather (can’t guarantee this!) a sea of bright hats, colourful dresses and high heeled shoes….. If previous years are anything to go by you are guaranteed a fantastic day out. You never know you may be lucky and select a winning horse!

The gates open at 11am with the first race time scheduled for 2.30pm, this year Greys Fun Fair will also be there to keep the little ones entertained with children’s rides, inflatables, zorba balls, bungees and stalls.

The Fakenham area is a great location to be based in for a holiday in Norfolk, along with the racecourse the town is home to the award winning Pensthorpe Nature Park. Just a short drive away you have other top attractions including the Dinosaur Park, Thursford and Gressenhall Farm & Museum. For beach lovers just over ten miles away is the beautiful sandy beach at Holkham – recently voted, “the best beach in Britain.”

Now where to stay?

One of our recent additions which was once a chapel, and although still looks like one from the outside, has undergone a rather clever conversion and internally it now offers a very welcoming, spacious and comfortable holiday accommodation for both families and adults wishing to discover this stunning part of rural North Norfolk.

The Old Chapel is just four miles aay from Fakenham and sleeps 8, with 4 bedrooms plus benefits from parking, WiFi, an outside games room, private enclosed garden plus there are even two bicycles provided – perfect for exploring the many cycle routes in the area.
