Sausages and burgers cooking on a grill

The "Battle of the Bangers" is a popular event which has been running for the past ten years and is part of the Norfolk Food & Drink Festival.

Heading to Norwich this Saturday then follow your nose of sizzling sausages to outside the Forum where you will be able to sample a wonderful variety of the county’s best bangers! Unusual & unique flavours are guaranteed including the introduction of a beef sausage!

This free event starts at 9.30am and last year attracted over 4,000 people, there are two competitions running, one for “Favourite Sausage” as voted by the public and also a “Blind Taste Winner” judged by top sausage specialists! including “The Sausage King” who is the leading UK sausage expert and tours the country on his motorbike visiting butchers and sausage makers and is keen to encourage people to return to buying local.

Last year Archers Butchers based in Norwich took both awards and this year’s winning butcher along with taking this sought after title will also be able to put their sausages on the menu at the Unthank Arms and the Pantry Restaurant at Jarrolds in Norwich.
Just some of the butchers taking part and hoping to win a title include The Beefsmith from Starston, F.L Edge & Son from East Harling, Tavern Tasty Meats from Swafield, Bradwell Butchery, The Fruit Pig Company and Icarus Hines Butchers from Cromer.

The winners will be announced around 4pm so don’t be a wiener, why not relish the fact you can take part in this event and meat some of our top butchers who will be on hand to answer any questions you are sizzling to ask!!
