The days are finally getting longer, spring is happening all around us and you feel like you want to start heading outside again so whether you’re looking to get fitter or just a leisurely cycle, Norfolk is a great place for exploring, by bike.
Peddars Way takes you through fantastic scenery including a Roman Road, the unique Brecks, low cliffs, sandy beaches and sand dunes so this cycle route has something for everyone, starting on the Norfolk / Suffolk border at Knettishall Heath it runs to the Norfolk coastal path at Holme-Next-The-Sea.
Marriots Way is a 26 mile footpath and ideal cycle route running from the market town of Aylsham to the medieval city of Norwich. Take in the countryside, wildlife and a wealth of local history such as the river Wensum and Whitwell Common.
Weavers Way is a footpath running for 61 miles between Cromer and Great Yarmouth, enjoy this route and come across a number of fine flint churches, several large country houses and a large number of wind-pumps.
Two big events to look out for:Head to the 25,000 acre beautiful Holkham estate over the bank holiday weekend 3rd - 5th May, for the Pedal Norfolk Festival being opened by Olympic silver medal winner Emma Pooley. This three day event is a guaranteed family fun, along with 20, 50 and 100 miles bike rides around North Norfolk there will be child friendly activities, entertainers, equipment specialists and much more.
Also on Sunday 6th April 2014, the Norfolk Cycle Show is being held in the Forum and charity bike ride out of Chapelfield gardens. This event is free to all with many attractions for the whole family including bling my bike, unicycle pancake race, cycling gymnastics and there will be question and answers with National Time Trial record holder Michael Hutchinson and cycling author Rick Robson.
