National Chip Week!

Yay, we have made it to Friday, the end of the working week!

What with the tradition that Friday is the day you eat fish, along with the fact its NATIONAL CHIP WEEK, I have asked the team here at Norfolk Country Cottages to name some of the best places in Norfolk to go for your fish and chip supper ….

Drum roll please……….. Our top choices are:-

The Norfolk Riddle = WalsinghamPlatten’s = Wells-Next-The-SeaMother Hubbards = SwaffhamMary Janes = CromerAlberts = HoltGrosvenor = NorwichThree cottages = North WalshamFrench’s = Wells-Next-The-SeaDrifters = FakenhamNo 1 = CromerChips Away = WymondhamHarrys Fish Bar = Potter Heigham

Also who could forget the world renowned Harry Ramsden’s, serving fish and chips for over 75 years with 30 outlets in the UK, (one located in Great Yarmouth) serving their closely guarded secret recipe of Harry’s famous batter and using British Potatoes which are carefully selected and chipped every day. The restaurant is in prime spot on the marine promenade close to wellington pier and the sea life centre; here you can enjoy your fish and chips whilst taking in the stunning views looking out to sea.

Now the big debate we are having here is what to accompany them with, the classic salt & vinegar, tomato ketchup, mushy peas, gravy, curry sauce?? (Personally think you can’t beat mayonnaise!)

With all that talk of food, I’m feeling quite hungry!!If you’re like me, you don’t need an excuse….. But if you do, as its National Chip week, it’s the perfect reason to have fish and chips for dinner tonight….. Enjoy!
