Natural England and Holkham Estate offer the facility to ride horses on the beach at Holkham, near Wells-next-the-Sea.

West Norfolk boasts two international horse trial venues in Burnham Market and Houghton.

Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary in West Runton was founded in 1995 and is open to the public Easter to October. 01603 736200.

Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Aylsham is the UKs largest horse sanctuary offering free entry and funded solely by donations. Caring for horses, ponies, donkeys and mules working to re-home them or give the animals a home for life at the sanctuary. 01508 481000.

Welfare’s Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Snetterton is a working farm that welcomes visitors to meet horses, take part in various events throughout the year, has a coffee shop and is open Wednesdays, Weekends and Bank Holidays. 01953 499100.

Fakenham Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue. The course is left-handed, almost square in shape, with a circumference of about a mile. A days racing is an exciting day out for people of all ages and prides itself on its friendly casual atmosphere and has no dress code. Next race date meeting is Friday 14th February. 01328 862 388.
