Fantastic reviews are being received for Norfolk’s Martin Shaw and the cast of 12 Angry Men, currently being shown at the Norwich Theatre Royal. The sell-out show is running from Monday 21st October to Saturday 26th October and Norwich is only one of three venues to host the play before its West End run. The cast line up is being described as pure class and due to their exceptional acting skills it is being seen as a highly powerful and thought provoking drama, so if you are one of the lucky ones to have tickets for the next few nights I’m sure you will be guaranteed an excellent evening.
I have to say I’m a big fan of The Theatre Royal Norwich, if you have never been (why??!!) It can comfortably seat 1300, which is an ideal number as its big enough to give you that feeling of magic and make-believe when you are there you can get lost into the wonderful dramas/fun/musical extravagances unfolding in front of you on the stage, yet small enough to give the place a cosy feel and better still it means no matter where you sit you are guaranteed an excellent view and a great night out.
Over the years I have seen a number of wonderful shows, Grease, Sister Act, Oliver, Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace’s Midnight Tango and Dirty Dancing..…… some of my early family memories are of us visiting the Christmas pantomime each year, one year when I was about 8 I got called up on stage and made to sing, All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth! Now 31, I think I have just managed to get over the embarrassment of it, although I remember I did get a fantastic goody bag of treats for doing it. My parents are also heading there this weekend to see the multi award-winning and critically acclaimed Charlie Landsborough, to celebrate mum's birthday (Happy Birthday Mum!)
The Theatre Royal is brilliant as it has a wide variety of shows on offer to cater for all audiences if you are looking for opera, plays, musicals, family shows there is something for everyone. Looking ahead some big names coming, include Brendon Cole and Russell Brand. Also advertised in February 2014, direct from three sold –out seasons in London’s Hyde Park and making its first nationwide theatre tour is Britain’s favourite circus, which includes all the thrills, spills and laughs of the traditional big top yet on stage, it features over thirty jugglers, acrobats, dancers, stunt-men and the Guinness record holding strongman, Hercules!
I’m pleased to also say a good friend of mine has already got us tickets for one of the longest running musicals Andrew Lloyd Webbers “Cats” being shown next April. Can’t wait!!
