Fairhaven Woodland & Water garden
Description: The Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden comprises 73 hectares (180 acres) of beautiful ancient woodland, water gardens and a private broad at South Walsham in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The garden was left in trust by the 2nd Lord Fairhaven in 1973, and was opened to the public in 1975. We work hard to preserve and enhance the garden according to Lord Fairhaven's wishes. The garden is totally organic; we only use farmyard manure and our own leaf mulch to fertilise the soil. The resulting flora and fauna found in the garden are testimony to this approach. We also carry out traditional woodland management practices like coppicing. There are over three miles of wonderful woodland walks - all easy walking with superb views across South Walsham Inner Broad. Boat trips daily, April to end of October (additional charge) - great birdwatching from the boat. 950 year old King Oak and many other ancient oaks and beech trees. Nature reserve with bird hide and special events throughout the year (please contact us for details) including Storytelling, Fairy Throne Making, Woodland Trail, Clown, Face Painting, Boat Trips, Bird Watching, Woodland Games, Gardening at Fairhaven display and guided walks.
