Creake Abbey Studios
Description: A trip to Creake Abbey offers visitors a chance to see the remarkable Abbey ruins dating from 1206, together with a visit to the Creake Abbey Studios, a haven for artists to create, show and sell their work. The abbey was formally a hospital, then a priory and finally elevated to the status of an abbey by Henry III in 1231. It has a chequered history well worth investigating. Creake Abbey Studios is home to Pat Bustin (Expressionist landscape painter), Circus Designs (paintings, mosaics and jewellery by Clare du Cann and Gary Haigh-Smith), Annie Lambert Home decor, Debbie Osborn (fashion, textiles, jewellery, art), Paul Gyseman (landscape photography), Ben Cartwright (bespoke picture framing) and Dave Smith (portrait photography). They all undertake private commissions and welcome visitors to browse, ask questions and view their work. The cafe provides full refreshments and ice-creams. Facilities include toilets (with disabled access), free parking and free entry across the whole property.
