Fakenham is one of Norfolk's traditional country towns, which has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. It has hosted a weekly market since 1250, and although the goods provided for sale may have changed somewhat, it together with the auction, still provides a very popular day out for bargain hunters! The town also has a cinema and a ten-pin bowling alley as well a National Hunt racecourse. Fakenham is just ten miles from the sandy beach at Holkham and two miles from Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park.
