Fakenham is one of Norfolk's traditional country towns, which has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. It has hosted a weekly market since 1250, and although the goods provided for sale may have changed somewhat it, together with the auction, still provides a very popular day out for bargain hunters! The town also has a cinema and a ten-pin bowling alley as well a National Hunt racecourse. Fakenham is just ten miles from the sandy beach at Holkham and one mile from Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park as featured in the BBC Springwatch nature programme. Map Ref: B4
