Enjoy the tranquillity of the great outdoors in this converted railway carriage complete with a beautifully hand-crafted bed and within half an hour from North Norfolk's stunning coastline.
Boasting colourful, bespoke interiors and a tranquil rural location, this converted railway carriage makes a beautiful couples’ bolthole. Explore the Broadland countryside, towns and coastline close by then unwind in a gorgeous courtyard garden. For the ultimate chill-out, a quirky BBQ hut is available for your enjoyment.
The River Bure – the longest of the rivers on the Broads – flows close to where this characterful couples’ abode sits within a leafy, wildlife-rich setting. To one side of the entrance doors there’s a handcrafted double bed, just one example of the owner’s artistry. Admire the view from the traditional carriage seating while dinner cooks in the small kitchenette – everything you need for simple self-catering is here, and freezer space can be provided if required. Adjacent, a sliding door leads into the shower room; the entire carriage is insulated and an electric heater ensures it’s a cosy space all year round. Enjoy together time in your courtyard garden, which sits next to a pond and is a peaceful spot for al fresco food and refreshments. Enhance your evenings with a visit to the ‘Hobbit House’ BBQ hut – there’s a central fire pit and bench-style seating.
A couple of miles west, the market town of Aylsham is where you’ll find welcoming shops inns and eateries. Norfolk’s longest narrow-gauge steam railway, the Bure Valley Railway runs from here to the bustling Broads town of Wroxham. If you prefer to explore on foot, the Weavers' Way passes through Aylsham en route from Cromer (12 miles) to Great Yarmouth (30 miles). There’s history, culture and retail therapy aplenty in the ‘fine city’ of Norwich, 15 miles south. Alternatively, visit the Blickling Estate (4 miles); the magnificent Jacobean mansion here is surrounded by historic parkland, and within Great Wood, you’ll find Norfolk’s very own pyramid!
