Find a Cottage > The Norfolk Broads > Thurne > 4 Old Lion Cottages Thurne4 Old Lion Cottages(Prop Ref: 944)From £296 - 523 per weekCheck availability >Thurne is a small but pretty riverside village with its own Staithe, on the River Thurne, in a very central area of the Norfolk Broads. South Walsham, Ranworth and Hickling Broads are all within a very short distance as are the fabulous Fairhaven water gardens, a super venue for a day out with a picnic. The market town of Acle is within four miles from where you can hire a boat for a day to explore the river. The village is home to one of the Broads most distinctive white windmills and pump, it is also exceptionally quiet, and as there are no street lights, on clear nights the show of stars is spectacular. National cycle route 4 is easily accessible and if you are feeling really energetic enough to complete the route you will enjoy some stunning scenery. The coast at Winterton-On-Sea is approximately twenty minutes drive by car and as well as a lovely sandy beach enjoys a NT nature reserve. This very attractive mid 19th Century cottage is quietly situated in a small terrace of similar properties and has superb views from the rear windows over the marshes and towards the river, where barn owls, marsh harriers and deer can often be seen. The interior is cosy and comfortable with a very welcoming woodburner, great for winter evenings. The property offers modern amenities whilst still retaining its cottage style atmosphere, with lots of character features including beamed ceilings and pamment tiled floors. It is a great all year round holiday base. Pub: 100 yds Shop: 100yds
