Poringland is a good base from which to explore many aspects of Norfolk. It is only six miles from the fine city of Norwich, which is home to a host of attractions from a Norman Castle to two modern shopping centres, one of which is in the Castle grounds. The Norfolk Broads and the sandy beaches of the East Coast are also both just a short drive away. Poringland itself is home to The Play Barn, which is a fun-packed award-winning indoor and outdoor play centre for children aged seven and under. Outdoor activities include visiting the farm animals, tractor and pony rides, whilst lessons at the riding school can be arranged.

The Barn Cottage is an attractive old cottage with modern amenities, providing excellent family accommodation with spacious gardens. It overlooks a small green with an attractive pond and viewing platform which guests have access to. The property is situated beside The Play Barn and  free admission is offered to all eligible children staying at the cottage, providing fantastic entertainment  in all weathers.
