Mattishall lies in the very heart of Norfolk, central to many of the county's attractions. There are a number of footpaths in the area with both fishing and golf available within four miles of the village. The market town of Dereham is five miles away and offers a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as having a cinema and a sports centre. Mattishall itself has village shops and a pub, with a restaurant in Yaxham one and a half miles away.

Wayfarers Cottage is a very pleasant converted stable, which retains many original features. It is located next to a small wooded area on the owner's working farm, with access to their one acre attractive garden, which is home to waterfowl and free roaming peafowl. It provides very comfortable, attractively furnished accommodation, which is all on one level, making it suitable for the less able. Shop: 1 mile Pub: 1 mile
