Fakenham is one of Norfolk's traditional country towns, which has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and three supermarkets. It has hosted a weekly market since 1250, and although the goods provided for sale may have changed somewhat, together with the auction it still provides a very popular day out for bargain hunters! The town also has a cinema and a ten-pin bowling alley as well as a National Hunt racecourse. Fakenham is just ten miles from the sandy beach at Holkham, two miles from Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, as featured in the BBC Springwatch nature programme, and two miles from The Hawk and Owl Trust at Sculthorpe.

Lots of little extras like milk in the fridge when we arrived. The kitchen had good equipment and the property was in a good location and a pleasant place to stay.
