Walks in Norfolk
One the activities popular with our holiday cottage guests is walking. Norfolk has some great long distance car-free paths that you can join and leave at your leisure many near our holiday cottages.
One near our office in Reepham is the Marriott's Way. This follows the old railway line from Aylsham to Norwich via Reepham and covers 26 miles. Its a bridleway, cycle route and footpath. Their website www.marriottsway.info says
What will I find and see? Wonderful countryside, wildlife, public art and a wealth of local history. Marriotts Way itself is a county wildlife site and passes through many interesting landscapes and wildlife-rich habitats, such as the Wensum river valley and Whitwell Common. You may see a variety of birds, animals and plants including kestrels, owls, hares, deer, butterflies, primroses and orchids. If youre very quiet and with a bit of luck, you may even see otters and kingfishers!
If your holiday cottage is in or near Reepham or if you're out for the day, then you can have lunch first. Either in one of the pubs in Reepham - The Kings Arms in the Market Place has jazz on Sunday afternoons in the summer - or at The Old Station which is one of joining points of the Marriotts Way. http://www.kerrispinefurniture.co.uk/ This is a great place for gifts and furniture as well as lunch or a cuppa.
Great walks are too numerous to mention but heres a few more (76!) that run for 4-6 miles: http://www.countrysideaccess.norfolk.gov.uk/circular-walks.aspx
Get those boots on and get walking.
