The Norfolk Broads

The Norfolk Broads are the UK’s largest protected wetland, full of ecologically significant sites including Wheatfen, our nominated charity. Unique in this country, the freshwater lakes and tidal marshes are the result of the flooding of peat pits dug in the Middle Ages, and today are teeming with flora and fauna.

The Broads offer something for everyone. Historical and family attractions abound in the picturesque villages and busy river centres dotted around the six broadland waterways. And of course there are plenty of opportunities to take river tours or even rent your own craft to explore this stunning area - plus a multitude of pubs where you can moor up for a meal and refreshments.
