Martham Fun CarnivalThe Martham Carnival was once again a tremendous success with over 3,000 people visiting Martham during the week-end activities. Many Community Groups, Charities and Commercial Companies had stalls on the village green and all were thankful that the weather was kind this year. The Mayor and Mayoress of Great Yarmouth, together with the Carnival Prince and Princess, led the Carnival Procession on Sunday, in a horse drawn carriage, followed by many floats and walkers, including the 501 troop, First Response, The lst Martham Brownies, The Scouts, Flegg High School and many more. The Community Groups and Charities raised between them, some £3,000 to £4,000 and the Carnival Committee raised around £1,300 which was donated to various local community groups and organisations. Monkey Spanner played on the green on Saturday evening and drew a very large crowd of spectators, all enjoying the free entertainment.

City of Norwich Aviation MuseumThe museum started out as an aviation enthusiasts group for members of the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company way back in 1977. The membership was later opened up to non employees and a temporary site was secured on the 17/35 runway at Norwich Airport. In early 1982, museum exhibits included Avro Anson (TX228), Westland Whirlwind (XP355), Sea Vixen (XP919) and a Dassault Mystere IV (121). 1983 saw the arrival of our Vulcan bomber which flew in to the airport after its retirement from service. By 1985 the museum had moved to its present site and an air fair held to help raise funds to expand the museum. At this time the Anson had gone (having been damaged beyond economical repair during gales) but Vampire (XD373) had arrived. 1986 saw another air fair on 14th September that saw attendance figures break the 20,000 barrier and another arrival, T-33 (16718). Over the next few years, services were laid, the main exhibition hall erected and the arrival of more aircraft. Recently the museum has

Thrigby Hall Wildlife GardenProgressive zoos like Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens are fast becoming a last refuge for many species as their natural homes are destroyed by the greed of man. The wild tigers of Sumatra are now down to a few hundred which is a fraction of their former numbers. Their forest habitat is being destroyed so fast that the remaining tigers are lucky to be alive and have little chance of meeting to produce another generation. All Sumatran Tigers in the care of zoos are being managed to ensure that one day, if and when really safe areas in their homeland can be established, there will be animals to aid restocking.
